The Greatest man who ever lived

There are a lot of things I could post about, but there is one thing more important than the rest – that is the story of Jesus Christ.

Growing up in a Christian family, I learned about the bible at Sunday School and from Sunday morning services. I gave my life to God at an early age but I didn’t commit 100% when I should have.

Over the years, I’ve grown closer to God; but I’m surprised at how little people (outside of Church) actually know about Jesus or God, yes – everybody (almost) has heard of God but they understand very little about his attributes.

God, Jesus, and the Holy spirit are the trinity – all God but distinct, each serving a specific function in the Godhead. The trinity is moral perfection, and God is the greatest conceivable being, he is without sin and cannot be tempted.

Holy – means to be special, set apart, not unclean, pure, perfect, without blemish… if you had a shimmering, beautiful white dress/suit and someone came up to you with mud in their hands – would you let them touch it? If they did touch it, how would that affect the outfit?

If you scale that up to the highest, most perfect being, can’t you see why we can’t approach God as we are… we cannot come into the presence of God as unrepentant sinners… you must be cleaned and transformed, you must become set apart and Holy – God can’t become like you – but you can become Holy; and thereby acceptable through Christ.

When mankind fell in the garden of Eden, we severed the relationship with God and the entire created order outside of heavenly realms was cursed. This is the world we asked for when we rebelled against the most high.

The reason Jesus is the greatest man that ever lived is because he was and is, divine in nature, sinless and blameless. He took our sin upon himself on that cross and paid the penalty on our behalf. We don’t deserve and haven’t earned it.

The first thing to note is that sin must be punished, God doesn’t tolerate sin. If we don’t accept his forgiveness and change our lives – we can’t go to heaven… why not? Heaven would be destroyed if there was one speck of sin – it would cease being heaven; just like the garden of Eden.

We are physical beings but we are also spiritual beings, that is why we need Jesus; we can’t live a transformed life without Christ – its impossible. Just thinking about committing a sin makes us guilty. Have you ever looked at someone with lust, wanted someone dead, wanted to take something that isn’t yours? From a spiritual perspective, you’ve already done it.. you just haven’t manifested it physically. On earth, its not illegal to (just) think about those things, but God looks at the posture of the heart.

So if you and I are guilty just by thinking about it, then how can we live our lives? When you takes Jesus into your heart, fully commit to him, pray and study his bible daily; he will transform the inner person into a likeness of Christ, slowly becoming more like the heart and character of Jesus.

By having a personal relationship with Jesus, we gain access to God because Jesus advocates for us, on our behalf to the Father. So by becoming a conduit to God, Jesus is the bridge that allows us to have a right and restored relationship with God the Father – and that allows us to be in heaven with our name(s) written in the lambs book of life. Jesus suffered, bled, and died for us and is even right at this moment – talking to God to intercede for you and me.

I invite you today to take a moment and say a prayer, thank Jesus for what he has done.
