Good Clean Fun

This is about what I do for fun from a technology perspective. I’ve always enjoyed watching TV & Movies, throughout the years, we had BETA, VHS, CD-ROM, DVD, Blue Ray, Plex, Prime Video and I enjoy being able to watch whenever, wherever I feel like it. I have bought thousands of CD’s, DVDs over the years, no joke.

I got rid of Netflix because I saw a video of their execs or a producer that was creating content for them at an awards show and they were mocking God and throwing it in his face that they were going to make more of some perverted sexual content and if he wants them to stop – he just has to say so..🙄

Really? It’s funny that some “educated” people say God doesn’t exist, but you never hear anybody talk like this about the tooth fairy or Odin, Zeus, Baal, Molech, Krampus, etc… It’s always the God of the bible that is hated. The bible says that all mankind in their default sinful state are rebellious against him, and that is demonstrated by these spiteful comments.

I wanted more than Prime Video (PV) or alternatives could offer – Plex came pretty close, and I’ve used it for a while but it didn’t quite hit right for me. I still have PV but I wanted my own shows, like my own “TV Station” because that is super cool to me.

One day I stumbled across channels and I was hooked.. now I have my own live and on demand content, for example – here are some screenshots from my iPhone.. it supports virtual channels; first you select content that loops 24/7 based on a name & number, thereby creating a personalized TV channel.. e.g Kung Fu, Swamp Thing, The Master, The Starlost, Ray Bradbury Theatre, etc…

I also manipulated a M3U plus text file and added IPTV to the mix so that we have HGTV, Hallmark (I’m a romantic wuss 😂 ), and others.

We blocked/omitted all adult content from the M3U file so it doesn’t show up in the guide, I want to live a clean life and not feel dirty or guilty.

Channels supports tailscale and allows you to remotely connect to your content from anywhere (if that’s what you want), for myself – I enjoy the heck out of this service, it really is terrific – warning however, if you are a casual computer user and haven’t fully embraced your inner nerd, do it 🙂, then you may run into issues setting it up, just use Grok and online guides and you should be just fine.

Another thing is that channels supports “bumper videos”, these are very brief videos that are played between episodes in a series, so you can make an 8 second action sequence related to the series and have it run regularly in the virtual channels, it’s a great feature and makes it feel like a professional production.

There is a minimal cost to running a Channels server but I find it more than worth it… give it a try!
