Numbers 10
I just finished reading thru Numbers 10, it’s a pretty short – Moses is commanded to make 2 trumpets of hammered silver. And then they are giving a series of instructions on how to use them to signal various instructions – but clear and separate instructions to the camp.
One of my close friends is Pastor John Feakes of New Life Sanctuary in Winnipeg, he has a YouTube channel called The Shepherd’s voice and it has a whole playlist dedicated to Numbers.
I have known him most of my adult life and when I need to be grounded in the faith, or corrected in my understanding – I rely on the bible first, and on my discussions with John.
If I’m going to be completely honest with you – one of the best things you can do, is getting the strongest, most trusted Christian friend you can get your hands on and keep learning and listening. Be wary – they have to also have beliefs that match the bible and a heart to match as well.
The reason I say this is because I know more than anyone – how easily influenced and distracted a Christian can become – I know this sounds insane in this day & age but honestly – when Friday night (today) and Saturday evening comes around – we’d be way smarter to put our stupid phones away – and watch a biblical playlist or read the bible and learn something.
Why do I say this? We’ll I’d say Friday evening is when the devil does his best work, you know you want to do things, get a little too open, maybe drink a little too much – and by Saturday morning you already have your regrets. I used to live this way, and if I’m being honest – what a waste of a life that is. When you’re doing something wrong – it’s the only thing you want, but after its over, you know that you’ve fallen a further away from God. I’m not doing that again.
The other thing is every moment you’re studying God’s word or doing his will, is another moment you are not doing something bad. This is also why you need a strong life partner, that won’t drag you into immorality or sin. You have to put your foot down and put an end to it at the end of day, you are responsible for your decisions.
I am not the example in the past that I should have been, but those days are over, I want to be the best Christian that I can be, first for God, and then everything else follows behind that.
In Numbers, at this point, Gods people are following his will and when they do, they are a nation at its best, what do they have to fear? That is the beauty of following God.
Have a great weekend!
