I’ve watched a lot of YouTube video’s about the Odyssey, some people call it brave, some people call it stupid, I call it another woke disaster.

I haven’t seen it yet… I understand the story is a mixture of some real events and some mythical elements. So this movie is fictional but some people don’t seem to understand why someone like me would hate it.

I like common sense and authenticity, so the reason why I don’t lean toward this movie is a couple of glaring reasons. Ellen Page cast as a greek warrior Sinon. I get this character is not supposed to be a muscle bound fighter, but is supposed be a male character, one who has been given the label “warrior” which implies a certain amount of physicality and violent capability.

So right off the bat, this casting rubs me the wrong way… I don’t like white characters being cast by black actors, or vice versa. I also don’t like female characters being cast by males characters or vice versa. I think that its a ridiculous choice. Even if you pretend for a minute that Ellen is a male Greek warrior – she is like super small and weak. I’m not big or tough but I’m also not pretending to a Greek warrior either.

I think it’s offensive, to show you why I think that, is if we did the reverse.. these Hollywood producers would never go for it or accept it. Here is an example, if you cast Emilia Clarke (Games of Thrones – I love that series) and cast her in a movie as Rosa Parks – the black activist; people everywhere would lose their minds.. why? That choice would be disingenuous as Emilia is a white woman – so why choose her to represent a black woman?

So, why choose a short, weak, skinny female to play a Greek warrior? See, in my mind – if you’re doing it to acquiesce to Hollywood pressure or for virtue signaling – that’s so lame. Let’s be honest here – if you were choosing an actor to play a Greek warrior is this who you would pick?

Every actor is playing a part, so to some degree – they are all faking it. But in Hollywood speak – this is about suspension of disbelief (if I remember correctly). The character plays the part, looks the part, becomes the part, until the performance comes to life in front of our eyes and our mind can fool itself and say that, “yeah, this person really is doing this…”. But no one would or should ever cast me to be a NBA star (since I’m like 5 feet tall lol), and I have no athletic capability, or cardio, or coordination, etc. – but the point is I wouldn’t be a part of a farce like that, I mean how weak is your character (your personal traits) does Ellen have to have to pretend to be a man, and at that; a man pretending to be a warrior. I’m not trying to pick on her or throw hate at her – its just all so ludacris that anyone buys this crap. I mean look at her bodyguard, now there is a big strong dude.

I want movies and TV to be as close to the original story canon while changing enough to be interesting and keep it fresh. It’s kind of funny in an ironic sense – that these people that push this nonsense casting are the same like minded people that got rid of “Aunt Jemima” syrup… I mean – I’ve always liked Aunt Jemima, never thought anything wrong with it. But you have to understand, it’s all about virtue signaling with these people. I mean, Aunt Jemima isn’t even a real person, good thing you saved her dignity – racism sure was stopped. 🙄 this emoji can’t eyeroll hard enough for what I feel here lol. I’ve never heard any person of color yelling at the supermarket on Aunt Jemima’s behalf – did they partake of the evil syrup? Give me a break.

I’ve noticed that in Prime Video, I’ve been looking for older movies, as I’m not interested in woke, or modern feministic shows. I like manly actions shows or sci-fi & mystery shows. I liked the Backrooms movie, that tall pirate dude scared the shite out of me.. lol. 😁
