All work – some play

I drive about an hour to work each day, its a long drive – about an hour.. I had a sweet surprise on the drive on the 218 close to the 201. You never know what you’re going to see on the drive – sometimes it’s something wonderful – today it certainly was…

Actually, I’ve seen whole groups of deer crossing the road, sometimes up to 4 at a time, they usually cross 1 at a time and that can be a little dangerous for drivers.

I’ve got a story for you – a true story; I used to work for a MSP (managed service provider) – I was one of their server expert(s) (I’d never call myself that.) and we moved a massive Canadian restaurant chain into the cloud – being one of early adopters of being cloud only – where previously this client had been exclusively on-premise. I worked on this project extensively and got them up and running in conjunction with networking engineers that were part of this project.

One of the jobs they dispatched me to was a job for Canada Post in Ridgeville, and I took the same route I that I normally take to work now.. until then I was driving mostly in town/city driving and I hated it. Driving this scenic and sunny route to Ridgeville via the 218 and 201 was a breath of fresh air to me.. and I made a silent prayer that I hoped one day I would be able to work somewhere in my field where I could drive this route – a little prayer made with a lot of faith – it might sound silly to you but it was very important to me. I need nature, it calms me – takes me away from the constant struggle of life, grounds me, reminds me that I’m just a simple man who loves an amazing God.

Fast forward to 2019 where I got my current job – an amazing job, I love it, its unreal – so good. And in addition to that I get to drive the same route that I prayed about all those years before in 2015.

That route has everything that I want to see and its a blessing to me. My mind is either racing with technological challenges or thinking about my past, but these days I focus on the future. I’m faithful to God and he has been faithful to me – he always had been.

Driving home after work gives me time to ease my anxiety, unwind after meeting the troubles of the day. And its what I asked for – I didn’t realize it, things don’t always hit me right away #yearsLater 😑🕒😮, one day – I looked at the sun coming up while driving and remembered my prayer.

I don’t know why God has done these things for me, I sure as heck don’t deserve it. I just want to publicly acknowledge & praise him for what he has done.
