Delight in the Lord
I want to start this post off with some scripture… 🙂
Psalm 1
1 Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.
3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
whatever they do prospers.
4 Not so the wicked!
They are like chaff
that the wind blows away.
5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
6 For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.
I’ve taken a break from posting on FB in regards to some of the debate groups I’m a part of.. I’m willing to debate regarding Christianity but I’m not going to listen/read evil posts that mock God. They say things like “what’s wrong, can handle it?…”. The truth is once a discussion gets to that point, its a degenerate conversation, and I want no part of it.
There are some people who want to know God or want to find God and I think that is beautiful. And there are others that match verse 1 above. Deep down they can deny God all they want, and mock him but there is no point explaining something to a fool. If you think that you can get away speaking out against God – you are going to regret it. When a fool mocks God, do you think that in anyway diminishes God’s power or authority? No, it didn’t when Satan did it – its certainty not going to do it when something as cosmically insignificant as a man does it. The only thing that happens when you speak out against God is that you invite his judgement over you – you destroy yourself with your own words – who is the foolish one now?
I watched the movie The Sheep Detective and I liked it until it started making fun of God – I think that movie is hot trash now. I don’t want to be a part of anything that mocks God in any way, I won’t associate with it or bargain with it, or hesitant in calling it what it is – trash. Some one people would say its just a joke… no, no it isn’t.. and I’ll tell you why.
The creator of the created order, the God that breathed life into Adam, and formed Eve, created the earth and everything in it, will not be mocked, he is not cannon fodder or source material for your jokes. When you joke about the God of the universe – you are wildly stupid. You can try to judge God or dismiss his directives that he made in the bible but here’s the thing… God – when angry, has full ability to wipe you off the map and put you in hell, and if you’ve talked disrespectfully about him, he is fully justified in doing so. If it a foolish idea to walk up to a hungry lion and slap him in the face, how much more so, to the one who created the lion?
God is patient and kind and loving, he is moral perfection, and that is one of the reasons why people think they have gotten away with murder, talking about someone behind their back, doing something in private that nobody knows about except for them, but the thing is that God knows, he always knows.
I’ve been sinful and stupid… we all have at some point in our lives, but we need to remember who God is and the power that is his alone.
But it isn’t just about judgement… when people are faithful to God, he will move mountains in your life… he can take 40 years of mistakes and rebellion and create a masterpiece out of you. But you also has to believe that he can do that, when he gives you the green light – you need to move. It’s not about having faith in yourself (as every life coach will tell you – that’s a lie), its about faith in God’s plan for your life.
Remember when God took Israel out of the land of Egypt into the promised land, but the spies returned with a very negative report and the people refused to have faith in God… God refused to ever let those men in (except the 2 that were faithful), and God walked the faithless to a dusty death in the desert. Why? When you question the worth of God’s word – you are essentially calling him a liar.
It’s kind of ironic when you think about, so many men & women that God called or one could say commissioned to perform a task – and they just came up with lame excuses of how they couldn’t do it.. who is asking you to do this? Do you think God will ask you to perform a task that he knows you can’t do? Why do we find fault with God when the issue is clearly our lack of faith in God’s empowerment of us.
We need to have childlike faith in God and seek his will – there is no need to be timid when you are following God.
